The Curiosity That Sparked It All
Hi, I’m Eric Putkonen, founder of The AI Whisperers in St. Petersburg, FL. I’ve always been curious about technology and obsessed with automation. When ChatGPT was released in 2022, I was blown away. It felt like having an assistant with the entire internet’s knowledge at its fingertips—and I knew it was going to change everything.
The Birth of The AI Whisperers
That excitement quickly grew into something bigger: the vision for The AI Whisperers. I wanted to create a boutique agency dedicated to helping small businesses reclaim time, reduce busywork, and grow using AI assistants that sound human, not robotic.
From Content to Automation
At first, I focused on creating AI-powered content writers that could sound natural, match a client’s tone, and stay on brand. But clients kept asking questions like: “Can it post automatically?” That’s when I realized small business owners didn’t just want AI to collaborate with—they wanted AI to take work off their desk.
Finding the Right Tools
I tested platform after platform. Many were too expensive to scale or too limited—just chat, just voice, or no real support. That’s when I found Voiceflow and n8n: flexible, powerful tools backed by strong communities. They gave me the freedom to build chatbots, voice agents, SMS systems, and full workflows without locking clients into costly, rigid platforms.
My First Wins
The first automation I built was for myself: an AI system that found leads, filtered them, pulled contact info, and even sent personalized follow-up emails with one click. I was proud—and honestly, blown away. In just the Tampa Bay area, I had 50 quality leads across two specific niche industries. I knew I could repeat the process in other metros and scale fast.
Then I built an AI email manager for my wife. It organized her inbox, automatically trashed old newsletters, wrote a weekly summary of newsletters by topic, and even texted her when family or friends emailed. I made it in such a way that she had full control—she could add labels, adjust which newsletters were summarized (and how often), and even set the length of time before auto-trashing emails. Watching the hours it saved her—and the stress it erased—proved just how powerful AI can be when applied the right way. Her reaction said it all: she was thrilled to finally have a handle on her email, relieved to know exactly what she was receiving, and genuinely happier with less stress hanging over her day.
